Have you ever wished you could get away from it all? Actually take the time to "smell the flowers"? Well that is all possible at Doris & Ivan Birky's Country Gardens. This lovely bed and breakfast, which is surrounded by sheep pastures, working farmsteads, and of course, a true country flower garden, is just what you need to relax and enjoy your stay in Shipshewana.

After shopping and site-seeing, sit on the patio and enjoy the pink and lavender flowers, it's amazing how many different flowers there are, everything from geraniums to petunias, so beautiful! Or perhaps you'd enjoy a walk down the country lane, taking in the peaceful setting of the amish farms and homes. LaGrange County is known for it's embodiment of the slower paced lifestyle, which Doris and Ivan would love to share with you, even if it's only for a night. In the evening it's nice to socialize in the family room trading stories, making new friends, catching up with old ones. You truly have time for each other!

After a good night's sleep in one of the four charming guest rooms, you will be treated to a continental plus breakfast consisting of homemade bran muffins, homemade granola, fresh fruit cup and coffee. At Doris' table, breakfast is served family style
using her cobalt blue, depression era glassware and of course, flowers are always on the table. What
a presentation...once again you feel like you're back in time!

The Birky's are always available to answer your questions and make suggestions for your stay in Shipshewana. After all, Doris and Ivan have been hosting guests in their home since 1987 and are native to the area. They encourage their guests to learn more about the amish lifestyle by attending a family style amish dinner offered at a reasonable cost, by a local amish family.

Birky's Country Gardens Bed & Breakfast is located at the at the corner of US 20 and County Road 075N. 1/2 mile east of US 20 and State Road 5. Birky's is convenient to all the area's attractions, yet far enough away to offer a relaxed country setting. Located just two miles south of the Shipshewana Auction and Flea Market.
